debugger won't work anymore

Hi:

A few weeks ago, I used the debugger for the first time in
working on some javascript files.

Since then, it has stopped working. The error messages
have been many, mainly 'Microsoft Script Debugger failed
to initialize. Please reinstall debugger components and
try again'.

I uninstalled my existing Microsoft Windows Debugger and
downloaded and installed a separate download from the web
(XP/2000 version). No difference. Then uninstalled.

I've tried many things trying to get things to work,
including uninstalling and then re-installing IIS and
Windows Script Debugger using the Control Panel Add/Remove
Programs Add/Remove Windows Components.

Finally, I installed the latest version of Explorer over
top my current Explorer. Now I can start it manually. But
I can't get the debugger to come up even when I
intentionally introduce an error in the ASP and or
Javascript.

I don't know what else to try.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

JK

I am experiencing a similar problem with ie 6, win xp sp1, on a toshiba s1, centrino 1.4 GHz. If this may help, on ie set under the tools menu and selecting internet options scroll down the list of settings and make sure that the setting disable script debugging is unchecked, (it is selected / enabled ??? by default by ie) and click apply. I have been able to enable script debugging on one computer with ie but not on the toshiba s1. If anyone is able to discover a solution / workaround please keep me informed.

Regards
